So now that I have sort of caught you up on our holiday celebrations. I would like to update you again on what has been going on in the Richardson household.
Right before Christmas we went through some changes that may have caused some set backs. The positive outcome from the changes we experienced is that we kept faith knowing things in life will only get better. Yes! There is that saying that things can only spiral downhill, but I think that as we stayed strong through our changes we were able to get through this rough patch in our life.
In January, Ryan and I searched vigorously to find work. Though I am not sure if I was ever ready to go back to work as I have been a stay-at-home mother for the past 3 1/2 years. I knew that if the right job came a long I would consider. When I say right job, I really needed to find something that paid enough. I needed enough income to cover baby sitting expenses, monthly bills, and still have some money left over for savings. I found myself hitting road block afer road block on my job hunting adventure. I suppose even if you have a degree or do not have a degree its still hard to find work in a struggling economy like Las Vegas. I often got the reaction from friends and family that I cant be picky about where I work and how much I earn. But in reality I can when it comes down to making a very big change from being home with the boys to working full time. Unfortunately and fortunately for me I could not land a job that paid enough but I guess the good thing is I dont have to sacrifice my stay-at-home mother duties after all, or at least for now. On the other hand, we are fortunate that Ryan was able to find a job that he absolutely loves. At first he didn't think he could do this job, then he went on the ride a long and became immediately interested in the line of work. I am proud to say that after a month of searching for work, he landed a job with a good company that deals with oil-refinery. We love his new schedule! We get to see him in the evenings and spend the weekends with him. Especially Sundays!!! We are so blessed!
In other news for January, Ryan and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary. Yes its been 5 years and I am happy to say we look forward to many more! We also got to go through the Temple and be sealed for time and all eternity. We are so happy about it and it was a wonderful experience. Also, Ryan and I took the boys on a quick road trip to ND before Ryan was to start working his new job. We were not sure when we would be able to get back up there, especially sometime soon since Ryan's Gpa Bieri is not doing so well. We are happy to say the roads were so wonderful! My biggest fear about this spontaneous trip was getting caught in a snow storm. But we really didnt have much too worry about. Unfortunately the trip was so quick, it was like we were in town for only ten minutes. We spent some quality time with Ryan's Gpa. We are updated weekly on his condition as Ryan's mom Julie tries to make a trip up there every weekend. We just pray that whatever happens, he will be at peace. Overall, I am pleased to say we started the year and month with a rough patch, but ended the month of January with a BANG!
Furthermore, can I just say that February came too fast, the month is almost over! For this month, Ryan and I had to tackle a few things. First, I had Jury Duty. I was so nervous about this obligation because I didn't know what or how it all worked here in Las Vegas. I really was looking forward to serving on a Jury. Unfortunately, when I called the day before to find out my reporting time the recording said I didn't have to attend and that my service was fulfilled. Bummer! Oh well! Maybe next time. In other news this month, Ryan and I were both asked to speak at church for Stake Conference. I was so nervous about this talk but also happy to share my story and testimony. We talked in front of maybe 300+ people well it seemed that way any ways. The conference was also broadcasted so more people heard our talks. Giving these talks was certainly a wonderful experience. And the best part of all, is we received positive feedback on how people enjoyed hearing our story and testimony As we come to a close for February, we will end the month with Ryan's other grandparents (Richardson's) coming into town to have a nice dinner to catch up with us.
Ohya! And I cannot believe I forgot to mention this... Ryan started school again and should have his associates by the end of this year. After that he will start his Bachelors program, which should only take him about a year and half. He is working toward a Bachelors Degree in Business Accounting. I cannot say this enough, I am so PROUD of him for making the decision to go back to school!
We are a busy bunch!
Welcome! Hope you enjoy reading about our little family, our adventures, and our hobbies!

Holiday Lights!
Finally! Every year Ryan and I plan to go out and look at holiday lights. Well year after year he was either working, one of us was sick, or we just didn't dedicate the time to go and enjoy holiday lights. This year, we finally told ourselves that no matter what we would make the time to see some holiday lights. Especially since we had two little boys who absolutely loved our Christmas light display at home. Little did they know there are many more houses out in Las Vegas that look more professionally done.
Our adventure to look at Holiday lights started with The Ethel M Chocolate Factory. The boys loved it. Caleb was so excited about all the lights and the gigantic Santa they had on display. The line to see Santa was way to long so we decided that since the boys got to sit with Santa at the mall we would pass the opportunity at the chocolate factory. We ended our Holiday light adventure in a Henderson neighborhood that decorates with theme from house to house. The place is called Quiver Point. Here are some pics of what we saw:
Holiday Celebrations in ND and LV
Okay! February came way too fast because I still have not had the chance to tell you about our holiday festivities. So I am sad to report you will have to read about it now.
Let's start with Thanksgiving... We spent Thanksgiving in North Dakota. We decided to fly this year (2011) as the previous year (2010) drive was terrible with bad road conditions and snow storms. To our surprise, we probably could have drove this year (2011). It did not snow once while we were up in North Dakota. Though I was rather pleased the temperatures were bearable, I was sadden because I really wanted the boys to play in the snow. We had Thanksgiving dinner with Ryan's Bieri grandparents on Thanksgiving day and it was rather very delicious! The Bieri family makes a heck of feast and there is no telling Gma Bieri "no" on seconds. She is a very persistent woman, which is why we all love her for fattening us up during our Thanksgiving vacation. We spent the following Friday with the Ryan's Richardson grandparents and also had another delicious meal. I tell you home cook meals are the best, especially when we are not the ones cooking. Though I know our time will come when we will slave in the kitchen to make the perfect holiday meals. Overall, we had a wonderful time visiting with both grandparents.
Here are some pics from our trip for you to enjoy:
Now on to Christmas and New Years... We spent both Christmas and New Years in Las Vegas. Ryan and I hosted Christmas at our home as that is usually the tradition, we celebrate on Christmas eve. We prepared a delicious meal with the help of other family members contributing to the menu. Ryan and I made a juicy ham and marinated chicken thighs, which we grilled on the BBQ. I also made a sweet potato dish with marshmallows. The kids enjoyed opening their presents. We had so many presents for the boys from family, friends, and neighbors that we saved a few for Christmas day.
For New Years we spent time at my sister Nikki's house. She made street tacos, which is a soft spot for me because I LOVE street tacos... my most favorite! Ryan and I are such old farts we did not even make it to midnight.
